Lose Weight - Green Tea and Its Benefits

Does tea help lose weight? Asian women are said to be more svelte and slim due to the effects of green tea. The Chinese have used it not just for medicinal and health purposes, but also for its dietary components as well.

Based on a study published in the International Journal of Obesity, it is said that the green tea extract burns more calories and fat that is needed to lose weight.

Said to increase thermogenesis (the body's heat production as a result of digestion absorption and the metabolism of food), it is considered to be an effective weight loss aid as it also slows down the body's ability to store fat and sugars. Even men are said to benefit from it, as this same study shows that men are also as likely as women to lose weight via this tea.

Health benefits range from as simple as keeping in check and normalizing blood pressure to lowering the risk of cancer. It reduces a host of other things: the risk of heart diseases and heart attacks, esophageal cancer and other debilitating cancers.
It is said to be used as treatment for some illnesses such as multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's, rheumatoid arthritis and cardiovascular diseases. Green tea lowers cholesterol levels and helps stabilize diabetes.
It also has vitamin E content, which keeps skin acne-free and slows down the aging process.

Also, mental alertness is considered a benefit due to its caffeine content - which means that you can cut down on your daily caffeine fix by substituting it to coffee.
(This can actually replace coffee, and in fact is being used by some Hollywood celebrities as alternatives to it.) And believe it or not, researches now show that regular drinking of green tea has fluoride, which kills the bacteria that causes plaque, resulting in a less likelihood of developing tooth decay.

Green tea is produced by steaming fresh leaves, plus more benefits than commercially made teas (the ones in cans and bottles). Plus, all teas have caffeine, but are lesser compared to coffee.
If you have a choice, choose full leaf as this releases caffeine slower than your conventional tea bags. Soak tea in a cup of boiling water. Steep for no more than 10 minutes - letting it steep longer than that will make the tea bitter.

Green tea may seem like a wonderful health drink - health benefits, weight loss and all - and in reality it is. But if you remain passive and stagnant with regards to your lifestyle, then it is pointless to drink barrels of the tea.
Actually, the effects of this tea will be better seen if you combine it with the proper exercise and a healthy diet. Wouldn't you want to wear your clothes as if you were 18 again? So, drink green tea. Best tea there is.
